When Mountain Valley Spring Water and Exotico Tequila send you a bunch of bottles of product to put into a cocktail...you do it, but you also build a chicken-retaining wall out of them. If you're me.
A very effective chicken-retaining wall, I might add.
We are juuuuust creeping into stone fruit season, and I have been very inspired to make some sort of refreshing, summery cherry tequila cocktail. Frankly, the iconic green and red packaging on the Mountain Valley Spring Water bottles really got me in the mood for a cherry-lime combo, and when they also sent me their Sparkling Lime Twist flavor to experiment with, I knew it was meant to be. Add a little Exotico Tequila Blanco and we have ourselves a bubbly little fiesta in a glass.
Besides...the chickens love them some pitted cherries.
Cherry Lime Tequila Spritz
Makes one serving:
- 2 oz. Exotico Tequila Blanco
- 2 oz. Mountain Valley Sparkling Water Twist of Lime
- 1 oz. fresh lime juice
- .5 oz. Maraschino liqueur
- .5 oz. fresh cherry syrup (instructions below)
- 1 tbs. coarse salt for glass rim
- sliced limes and fresh cherry for garnish
- crushed ice made from Mountain Valley Spring Water
To make the fresh cherry syrup:
Combine 1 cup pitted, fresh cherries, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup water in a saucepan over medium high heat. Simmer for about five minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and smash cherries with a muddler. Set mixture aside to thoroughly cool, then strain into an airtight jar and store in fridge.
To make the cocktail:
Start by prepping your glass. Run a slice of lime around the rim of a highball glass, and roll through coarse salt. Fill glass completely with crushed ice (and if you want to be fancy, lay your garnish lime slices flat along the side of the glass before filling with ice).
In a shaker with ice, add tequila, lime juice, cherry syrup, and maraschino liqueur. Shake until chilled and strain into your prepped glass. Top with Sparkling Lime Twist and garnish with lime slices and cherry.
