Cocktail Hour - We Rise Together

As we’re inching closer to this holiday season, we can’t help but feel inspired. We’re inspired by those consummately American traditions this time of year: family meals with all the staples, family get-togethers with drinks and memories, trees, wreaths, the whole shebang. But just a few weeks ago we were also inspired by our friends with the Lee Initiative. Their mission to uplift and support women chefs and culinary artists gives us more reasons to celebrate this season and more reasons to ask you to join us around the table.

As we’re all shuffling our schedules to prepare for the holiday season - thanksgiving dinners, family reunions, and homes filled with joyous spirits we’ve decided to rally behind a singular call-to-action that can bring back what we love about the holidays while celebrating one another’s successes and seeing the success of one female chef as a win for all women in this industry with The Lee Initiative.

Let’s get everyone back to enjoying each other, enjoying food, and enjoying drinks together at the holiday table. Let’s put down our phones and put on our aprons! When we get back to the table, we get back to what’s important. That’s it. It’s simple and honest.

To kick things off our friends at the Lee Initiative crafted a delicious cocktail using our pure, American Spring water that really brings people together and makes them want to celebrate. This super festive cocktail and pillar of our mission we appropriately call We Rise Together. It’s straightforward, delicious, and a memory-maker, just like our message.

For starters, get your hands on a bottle of Makers Mark not only for this creation, but also for the festivities that will occur the rest of the season. Same goes for simple syrup. Make your own (we’ll tell you how) or get it from the liquor store, but definitely keep it on-hand for our winter cocktail hours. The rest of the ingredients are cranberry juice cocktail, lemon juice, plum bitters, and our Mountain Valley Sparkling Water.

To make the simple syrup, you need two things: equal parts sugar and water. That’s it! Simply boil 1 cup of water and add 1 cup of white sugar. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved, then stick in the fridge to cool. Keep it stocked for cocktails, teas, and any other beverages you want to sweeten.

Now, pour the Makers Mark, simple syrup, cranberry cocktail, lemon, and plum bitters into an ice-filled glass. Give a quick stir and top with a splash of sparkling water.  Garnish with a good-sized lemon wedge for squeezing. How easy is that?!

Ingredients (makes 1 serving)

1 ½ ounces Makers Mark
1 ounce simple syrup
1 ounce cranberry juice cocktail
¾ ounce Lemon Juice
Plum bitters (2 dashes)
Top Mountain Valley Sparkling Water
Lemon wedge for garnish

Instructions
Pour all ingredients except for sparkling water into a glass filled with ice. Stir.
Top with a splash of Mountain Valley Sparkling Water and garnish with a lemon wedge
