Has the normal media disclaimers for bottled versus tap but the macro case favors us. Quote from Kim Jeffrey: "For thousands of years, water was beverage of choice for human beings," he said. "Now we're reverting back to that."

Many of the people who read our "Bottled Water News" posts in our blog have been concerned over the last number of years about the negative "tone" of press coverage concerning bottled water.

Things may be changing!

The tone of the media coverage of bottled water has reached a point where the number of positive stories now exceeds the negative stories.  Data from Vocus – a media tracking service – shows that since the second quarter of 2011, positive bottled water stories have outnumbered negative bottled water stories.

This chart shows the number of negative, positive, and neutral stories about bottled water from the 1st quarter of 2010 through the 4th quarter of 2012. (Most of the stories are neutral.)

I believe a great deal of the credit for this the turnaround can be given to the communications and other related efforts of the IBWA. Combined with the efforts of the many individual bottled water companies who take the time to engage with the media and our critics, the true story of benefits of bottled water is beginning to be heard.

It is a start! Please continue your efforts!

"Coke is becoming a dinosaur, one that should not be replaced by aspartame-laced drinks (which have problems of their own, including, possibly, depression) but by water."

The macro trend favors our products.

Why do these highly educated journalism majors keep showing images of Mountain Valley glass bottles when discussing plastic bottle bans?! At least it was in a news story about plans to repeal the Concord ban. Link below.

While volumes (unit sales) of all the other core ‘center of store’ categories declined in 2012, volumes of energy drinks, bottled water and coffee climbed strongly, according to Symphony IRI Group.

This is a really good (and short!) video that sums up the folly of bottled water bans.
